Lifespan received a score of 3 stars (the highest honor) from Georgia’s Quality Rated program in early July. This voluntary process is similar to what we experienced with accreditation by the National Association on the Education of Young Children (or NAEYC), but is determined by our state’s licensing agency. Throughout the past year, we intensively prepared a portfolio that documents everything there is to know about our programming (e.g., curricula, activities, teacher qualifications, policies, menus, etc.). We also received multiple trainings from our Quality Care for Children representative and worked to implement best practices for health and safety as well as teaching strategies in the classrooms. Our (surprise!) visit was conducted several weeks ago by state assessors, and we just received our score over the summer break.
